Dedham Savings Launches Zelle®

New digital tool allows customers to send payments to anyone through the Bank’s mobile app

Dedham Savings recently launched Zelle®, a P2P (Person-to-Person) digital payment solution, according to an announcement by Sue McKinnon, Senior Vice President for Deposit Operations.

Noted McKinnon, “Dedham Savings has a strong focus on offering leading edge digital tools to customers, and this is our latest in a long list of services we provide to make banking easy from anywhere, and anytime. And, with COVID-19, social distancing, and the need to complete transactions hands-free or remotely, this launch is especially timely.”

Zelle® is currently available to customers inside the Dedham Savings mobile app. Customers using the mobile app will not need to apply for the Zelle® service, although they will need to follow prompts within the app to enable their ability to send and receive payments through the service. All mobile app users will also be prompted to re-accept the Mobile Banking Agreement at their next app login; the Agreement includes information about using the Zelle® service.

With Zelle®, a Dedham Savings customer can send money to anyone, regardless of where the other person banks. The recipient must have Zelle® as an option at their own bank, or they can use the Zelle® app outside of a bank. Zelle® can be used when splitting a group bill – like dinner, gift purchase or utility payments – or paying someone such as a babysitter, sending someone birthday money, etc.

Once a payment is successfully sent with Zelle®, the payment comes out of the sender’s Dedham Savings account immediately. The recipient follows prompts to accept the payment, which is then transferred digitally into the recipient’s bank account.
