Dedham Savings Community Foundation Supports Newton Community Farm

The Dedham Savings Community Foundation recently donated to Newton Community Farm. The funds will be utilized for the purchase of a farm vehicle, which will serve to broaden their reach and assist with the sale and donation of locally sourced produce. This vehicle will play a vital role in transporting produce, helping to enhance accessibility for individuals enrolled in numerous food assistance programs, as well as bolster the Newton Food Pantry’s efforts.

ABOUT NEWTON COMMUNITY FARM

The Newton Community Farm is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the community through sustainable agriculture on the historic Angino farm. Its primary goal is to provide fresh, locally grown produce to help combat food insecurity. Additionally, the farm offers a variety of educational opportunities, including hands-on classes, workshops, internships, and volunteer opportunities, all of which focus on sustainable practices for agriculture, land use, and the stewardship of other natural resources.

ABOUT DEDHAM SAVINGS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The Dedham Savings Community Foundation was formed by Dedham Savings for the purpose of funding requests from community organizations which provide services to the communities that they serve. These communities generally, but not exclusively, include Dedham, Needham, Norwood, Sharon, South Boston, Walpole, and Westwood.  Typical requests are usually received from such organizations as schools, libraries, family service organizations and non-profit organizations. The Trustees of the Foundation will accept grant requests from community organizations and make awards twice a year.
