The Dedham Savings Community Foundation has awarded a grant to Rosie’s Place. Grant funds will support the purchase of a new dock-height box truck for its Food Program, helping the organization expand its capacity to meet the growing food needs of women and families in Greater Boston. The new truck will allow Rosie’s Place to pick up and transport larger food orders and donations more efficiently, including bulk deliveries from the Greater Boston Food Bank and local companies. With added capacity and a lift, the truck will also reduce the physical demands on staff and streamline deliveries to the organization’s storage areas.
ABOUT Rosie’s Place
Rosie’s Place was founded in 1974 as the first women-only shelter in the United States. What began as a safe place for poor and homeless women to get a bed and a meal in Boston has grown into a community center providing wide-ranging support and education services to more than 13,000 women a year. Their mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that helps poor and homeless women maintain their dignity, seek opportunity, and find security in their lives.
