Dedham Savings Community Foundation Supports West Suburban YMCA

The Dedham Savings Community Foundation recently donated to West Suburban YMCA. Grant funds will be allocated towards capital improvements for the Wells Ave YMCA site, with the purpose of establishing a day camp facility. These enhancements aim to develop functional outdoor, open-air areas for camp-related activities and deliver year-long programming for the local community. The planned improvements will include the purchase of storage and activity equipment to serve camp attendees at this location.

The West Suburban YMCA, founded in 1877 in Newton Corner, is among the oldest YMCAs in the United States. As a charitable non-profit organization their mission is to strengthen the foundations of the communities they serve by supporting youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility for all. They provide year-long programming and are committed to helping individuals thrive at each stage of life, and are passionate about nurturing the potential of kids, helping people live healthier, and supporting their neighbors.

The Dedham Savings Community Foundation was formed by Dedham Savings for the purpose of funding requests from community organizations which provide services to the communities that they serve. These communities generally, but not exclusively, include Dedham, Needham, Norwood, Sharon, South Boston, Walpole, and Westwood. Typical requests are usually received from such organizations as schools, libraries, family service organizations and non-profit organizations. The Trustees of the Foundation will accept grant requests from community organizations and make awards twice a year.

Organizations wishing to request funding from the Foundation may apply online on our Community Giving Page.
