Dedham Savings Community Foundation Supports Ascension Career Training

The Dedham Savings Community Foundation has awarded a grant to Massachusetts Ascension Career Training. Grant funds will be allocated towards the construction and installation of a 3-bay industrial workshop located at Ascension’s transitional housing facility/training hub. The temporary transitional housing facility and training center supports disadvantaged individuals, provides rent-free housing during their training program, and teaches life skills education and skilled trades training for participants to gain employability skills to prepare for a career in the trades like electrical, plumbing, carpentry, pipefitting, steam fitting, welding/metalworks, and construction.

ABOUT Ascension Career Training

Ascension Career Training provides supervised housing and educational opportunities for disadvantaged individuals through training programs and rent-free housing to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to obtain employment. Ascension aims to help people who have been incarcerated, victims of domestic violence, and those transitioning out of foster care, to get on their feet and transition into independent living. They set up program participants to succeed by teaching them relevant skills based on their fields of interest and then match individuals with employers and provide paid job training and continuing education opportunities.
