Smart money habits can start early.
This page has all the resources you’ll need to cover everything from saving to credit scores in a way they’ll understand.
Appreciation
When something you own, like collectibles, a house, or investments in general, goes up in value over time.
Tip: Say ‘bye to impulse buys! Instead, consider the long-term value of every investment you make..
APY
Also known as Annual Percentage Yield. It tells you how much money you can earn on an interest-bearing account over a year.
Tip: The higher the APY, the harder your cash will work for you.
ATM
You can bank at an ATM and manage your accounts by checking balances, transferring funds, making deposits, and, at participating locations, making loan payments. Certain checking accounts also include ATM surcharge fee rebates when using select ATMs nationwide.
Tip: Find a checking account that includes “Free ATMs.”
Budget
Think of it as guardrails for your spending. Based on your income, it determines how much you can spend and should be saving each month.
Tip: Try out our Budget Calculator to formulate a budget based on your monthly income and expenses.
Checking Account
A transactional account for managing your money, like to receive paycheck direct deposits, pay bills, get cash at an ATM, transfer money to savings, etc. Online & Mobile Banking access available.
Tip: Open a checking and companion savings account together so you can easily transfer funds and keep your savings growing.
Credit Score
It’s like a financial report card. Scores range from 300-850 based on how likely you are to pay back borrowed money.
Tip: Make payments on time to increase your score! The higher it is, the more likely you are to get approved for a loan.
Deposit
It’s that great moment when you put money into your account and see the balance go up.
Tip: It’s smart to spread your money across different accounts, like a savings or money market account, so the money you’re not using can grow!
Interest Rate
The extra percentage you pay your bank when you borrow money OR that you get paid by your bank when you deposit cash.
Tip: Pay your credit card balance in full each month to avoid extra interest charges. They can add up!

Welcome to the Budget Calculator!
Whether you’re budgeting for the week, the month, or the entire year, it’s a good idea to follow the 50/30/20 Rule to make the most of your income.
Spend 50% on needs • Spend 30% on wants • Save 20% for the future
Now let’s do some math to see if you’re on the right track!
What’s your income?
Enter how much money you make each week. It could be the weekly “fun money” you get from Mom or the cash you make at your part-time job.
What are your expenses?
Enter how much money you spend each week. Whether you’re paying for things that you want or that you need, every cent adds up!
Your results
Let’s see where your spending stacks up compared to the 50/30/20 Rule! Are you hitting your targets? Or, is it time to reassess your spending habits to meet them?
